That weird yet beautiful body!
Grand Theft Auto 5 is an extremely wild game! I mean over the years the franchise tends to push the boundaries on how far it can and will go. This is a game where you can have sex with a prostitute, can kill her, then take the money, hop in your bat-mobile or military jet, and proceed to buy fried chicken.......I'm not making any of this stuff up!!!!! This a game where you can drive around in a hover bike and save the world from an A.I program all while running around wearing underwear and a chicken mask! Yet despite its weird and random entertainment, this game can have moments of well body positivity believe it or not. Especially with a character who is just.....well, let me explain.
In the game there are 3 character's to play as, but one we need to talk about is Trevor Philips; a hillbilly redneck drug dealer and menace to society......and that is putting it lightly! This man has done some VERY insane shit, like I don't even know where to begin, but despite the fact that he is a very dangerous person who needs to be locked away, he can be helpful to a certain degree! In one cut scene he is talking to this guy who feels insecure about his penis size, claiming women laugh when they see it. So, being the man he is, Trevor tells him to whip it out, and when he says no, Trevor decides to whip out his own dick and proudly says the following "Mine ain't nothing special, but this boy gets the job done"! Meaning this whole dick size things is absolute bullshit! In fact this whole thing that your body has to look like a certain way is bullshit!
In our society we put a huge emphasis on looking a certain way, and anything less that that is not right. As a result we force ourselves to go through some unnecessary diets, and engage in some crazy exercises that make us feel like we can't even move our own bodies; shits insane! There are people(like myself, not gonna lie) who enjoy this a lot! But I know for a fact that this is not for everyone, and this can be too much or extreme for others. Sometimes, you just gotta learn to love your body! Yeah there are things that we all wish we can change about it, I mean gender dysphoria is a bitch and not cool when it lives rent free in your head. However, what we can do is minimize it by putting emphasis and focus on the parts we love and like about our body!
We are going to do something unique here! Oh I bet you were not expecting this blog entry to being a lesson; but trust me this is going to be very beneficial to you in the long run! First an foremost, look at yourself in the mirror, if you are wearing clothes, that's perfect! But seriously look at yourself in the mirror and take note about your appearance! Look at the good parts of you, the bad parts, etc. Strike a pose admire how cool you look doing said pose. Look cool, cute, beautiful, handsome, and etc; your gender identity does not matter, what matters is yourself! If you have other clothes you want to put on, go for it, the purpose of this exercise is to point out how great you look is what ever you wear. Plus, I am VERY optimistic that you all look great! Now, if you have spent a decent about of time admiring your body in clothes, lets take it up a notch...or off a notch if you catch my drift ahahaha!
We are going to do the same thing again, except this time, I want you all to take off all your clothes, but please do so in a space where you feel comfortable and that is not illegal! Once again, strike some poses, and admire your nude form, seriously look at the beauty your body has before you! All the marks, the scars, and even your imperfections, take note of them and value them! Take your hands and run them through every part, from head to toe. We are showing our bodies love and affection, and teaching ourselves to appreciate what we have! Yeah I know there are things we wish to change or improve, but lets learn and understand what we have first! But understanding and exploring our bodies, we can work to enhance the good while we gradually work on the bad.
Now this part you can do with or without closes on, but sit down and ponder, what is it that you like about your body. Then discuss what is it you do not like about it; and finally think about what changes you can make to it. If it is a change that is feasible then go for it, live your best life! If it is not, then what are things you can do to enhance what you do have? This whole exercise is not about body shame, but body positivity! Our bodies are our own, can we have the power to make them absolutely spectacular.
Your body is YOUR body, it does not belong to society and it does not exist to make others comfortable. It exists to make YOU feel comfortable. I will be honest, there are moments where I wish I had a more feminine body without needing to go on hormones, and there are moments where I feel like maybe I am too masculine presenting and I feel sad as a result.....yeah gender dysphoria sucks ass. Yet, when I look at myself in the mirror I don't see a man....or a woman...I see an experience! I see an individual who looks as if they transcend gender and body types. I can look masculine, I can look feminine, I be both, I can be neither, I CAN BE A FUCKING THREAT!!!!!! But at the end of the day, I am me and no matter how my body is or looks I love it! If you you love your body, then hellz yeah! If not, then lets work on making the changes so that you can! I can say you have a beautiful body, but YOU have to be the one to say and acknowledge this yourself!
